Clarience Technologies: Serving the Future of Transportation

Today’s transportation technology has been through several phases of evolution, from regulatory requirements to technical innovations. In fact, innovations from various industries around the globe. With every sensor now able to output data, telematics solution providers are pulling that data from their systems and sending it to customers, creating a data tsunami where the fleet managers and fleet operators are overwhelmed with data. Most admit that they still struggle to manage, transform, and create value from data in a way that benefits their fleet. That’s where Road Ready comes in.

“One of the things we focused on when Road Ready was developed was to make certain that fleet operators and managers have an easy-to-use tool that made their job easier,” begins Nada Jiddou, Executive Vice President, Connected Solutions for Clarience Technologies and Road Ready general manager.

Road Ready offers GPS-based tracking, health and condition reporting and many other services for commercial trailers, with a platform that helps identity powerful insights into overall commercial fleet performance.  It is part of Clarience Technologies, a global transportation technology leader focused on developing technology innovations for the commercial vehicle, passenger car, recreational off-road machine and pleasure craft markets.

As an innovative solutions provider, Road Ready advanced telematics features an intuitive way to see, and act upon, insights preventing optimal fleet performance.  Road Ready customers are given access to an online portal accessible from any device where they can quickly and easily check the locations of their trailers through a comprehensive dashboard that tells them the health of the trailer. In a single view, they can dispatch the next action for that asset. Similarly, let’s say they would like to perform maintenance on their assets in a single page. Also, managers can go in and see all the alerts on their assets and be able to dispatch the proper maintenance to that asset. “We help customers run their business more efficiently and check the status of their fleet and locations of their assets to seamlessly integrate that into their day-to-day work,” adds Jiddou.

What really makes the company stand out from its peers is more than the solutions or services they offer.  Rather, the Road Ready difference starts with the experienced and passionate team that serve as the backbone of Road Ready. Road Ready customers are assigned a dedicated customer success team member to serve as their primary contact point, working one-on-one with customers both from solutioning as well as ongoing account and customer relationship management. When a new customer enrolls in Road Ready, they should expect to be paired with the solutions team, and to be assigned a customer success representative. The assigned customer success team member follows the customer through the journey, from analyzing the requirements to onboarding while keeping the ongoing relationship live. The representative also makes sure that the customers are using of the system to suit their needs. “No two customers are the same. Every customer’s needs are unique, so we customize our solutions to meet their needs—we don’t give one-size-fits-all solutions for every customer,” said Jiddou.

Driving the Future of Transportation

In the face of unprecedented changes in transportation brought on by electric, autonomous, and connected technologies, Clarience Technologies was launched in 2020 as a new kind of company built to serve the future of transportation. To energize its culture in preparation for the industry disruption expected to come from electric and autonomous vehicles.  By creating a new parent company and locating its headquarters in the Detroit area, the company has quickly established itself as a visionary in its space and has since added several leading brands to its roster.  Yet, each Clarience Technologies company is united by a simple premise— to bring total visibility to transportation so customers can better see the road ahead, literally, and figuratively.

Today, Clarience Technologies has nearly 3,000 employees worldwide. Its products can be found throughout North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and China. Its operations are spread across 20 locations around the globe. As Clarience Technologies continues to strengthen its position in the future of transportation, its original aspiration remains unchanged today– to deliver the technologies that keep the world moving, forward.

Redefining Total Visibility

Clarience Technologies has a long legacy of moving the industry forward.  The company’s predecessor, Truck-Lite, remains the oldest of the Clarience brands. The company was founded in 1955 in Jamestown, NY by George Baldwin, a truck driver whose ingenious idea sparked a revolution in truck and trailer safety lighting. Tackling the problem of the short life of trailer lights Baldwin designed the first sealed marker light, using his kitchen sink for quality control. That first light was a commercial success, and Truck-Lite released the industry’s first sealed stop/turn/taillight soon after.

After introducing scores of lighting innovations for commercial vehicles over the course of several decades, the biggest innovation at Truck-Lite —Road Ready— didn’t come until 2017, when a large fleet customer asked a simple question: “If I have a light out on one of my trailers, can you let me know in headquarters?” The answer most certainly was yes, and Road Ready was born.  Fast forward to today, five years after the brand’s inception, and Road Ready is a brand that’s starting to hit its stride.  This December, the total number of assets managed by Road Ready is expected to break the 100,000-unit mark after only 5 years.  What’s more, over half of those units went into service within the last 12 months.

With Road Ready being one of the newest telematics brands on the market, the leaders at Clarience Technologies knew success depended on their ability to deliver a unique solution that stood above other brands. “Our biggest advantage was being born from the trucking business,” said Jiddou. “The solutions being offered were not exactly what fleet customers wanted—we could see that clearly—so we set a bold vision for Road Ready to deliver a superior product and a superior user experience, and we haven’t looked back since.”

Bold Thinking for A Bright Future

In the long run, Clarience Technologies’ vision is of total visibility into the fleet management space. With its focus on purposeful innovation, company executives developed a five-year strategy that is all encompassing, starting with deep understanding of where the industry is heading and then thoughtful consideration for how these industry changes will impact their customers. Clarience has been fairly consistent about one thing – the company will not sit idle as the industry changes around it.  Its brands lead the industry today, and the company intends them to lead well into the future.

“If you look across the brands, our brands have led in virtually every category we entered. We didn’t get there by standing still, and we won’t stay there by standing still, either,” said Jiddou.

Clarience Technologies has a vision for Road Ready to be the most comprehensive and most reliable solution in the market in the next two to five years, and the brand is well on its way. To lead, the company is embracing smarter technologies.

“We want to play an integral role to digitize the supply chain and we feel that we’re well positioned with our LogIQTM smart partner network to do exactly that. We believe that our LogIQ network, along with our 5G Ready systems, offers our customers flexible solutions that show a long-term commitment that gives them the power to go further as they work to evolve their businesses to compete in an industry that, while different, will continue to be bright,” concludes Jiddou.
